OpenAthens - Adding customers to Wayfinder
What is Wayfinder
Wayfinder is a service provided by OpenAthens that allows user to search for their institution and then be directed to the corresponding IdP logging page to initiate the authentication flow.
Statista's Wayfinder
In the current status we need to provide a centralized access point for all users falling in the categoy of 'Academia', this means we need to combine, old SAML, new SAML, OpenAthens and Shibboleth users in a single list.
As of writing this guide, the current spot to achieve that is on to set the shobbolethLink field for the account on the users database.
Process
For institutions usign OpenAthens not already present on the statista wayfinder list. Upon request to be added, the CSM needs to enter the redirector link in CRM under the Shibboleth Link field, and after 20 hours the list should be updated with the new data.
The redirector link for OpenAthens should be in the following format:
https://go.openathens.net/redirector/{UNIVERSITY_DOMAIN}?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.statista.com
The value UNIVERSITY_DOMAIN should be replaced with the actual domain of the institution, for example for cambridgecollege.edu the link would be:
