Test Shibboleth Login
Overview
This guide explains how to test the Shibboleth login flow using the DFN (Deutsches Forschungsnetz) Discovery Service.
Prerequisites
- Access to a valid institutional account registered with DFN-AAI or UK Federation
- The institution must be configured in the Shibboleth metadata
Steps

Navigate to the DFN-AAI Discovery Service

Select your home institution from the list

You will be redirected to your institution's Identity Provider

Authenticate with your institutional credentials

After successful authentication, you will be redirected back to Statista with access granted
What to Verify
- The redirect to your institution's login page works correctly
- Authentication with valid credentials succeeds
- You are successfully redirected back to Statista
- You have appropriate access to Statista content
Troubleshooting
If the login flow fails, check:
- Your institution is properly configured in the Shibboleth metadata
- The Shibboleth service is running on the servers (see Shibboleth Server Reference)
- The SAML assertion is being properly validated
- Check the Shibboleth logs at
/var/log/shibboleth/shibd.logon the server
